MG-SOFT MIB Browser

MG-SOFT MIB is an SNMP browser. An SNMP browser is used to monitor network-attached devices that are needed to be monitored.

It is based on the MIB compiler, which is responsible for compiling vendor specific MIB files. These files are in the MIB module language format. They are compiled into MG-SOFT’s SMIDB format. An application accepts MIB files through the industry standard WinMIB interface by using its API functions in its WinMIB.DLL module.

MIB can detect and monitor any SNMP device of the network. These are files, database servers, modems, printers, routers and switches. The protocols used are SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols in the following networks: IPv4, IPv6 or IPX. The MIB browser can perform SNMP Set operations, SNMP Get, SNMP GetNext, as well as SNMP GetBulk. The trace window displays messages between the browser and the SNMP devices.

Other features include the SNMP table viewer and editor, graphics of queries made, and logging capabilities. SNMP messages are shown in a raw hexadecimal and decoded format.
MIB files are provided by vendors of SNMP manageable devices. The MIB file contains the object hierarchy and attributes of an SNMP device. The file serves as the scheme for managing the device. MG-SOFT’s MIB browser is the most widely used SNMP browser.
